[B] Inspired Photography by Julie Boysen

It is no secret that I enjoy taking pictures. What you may not know is that I also love people-watching. It's really one of my favorite past-times. Humans do funny things. However, family-watching is my absolute favorite. Family interactions bring so much more emotion to the table than just watching people at the mall. Seriously - three words - King of Queens. Need I say more? Really, when you think about it, many popular shows on TV are all about families and their reactions to life together.

(video)

I love when families start to giggle together. You know, that little giggle that starts and then ripples through the rest of the crew.
I love the ornery moments.
I love when I can catch on film the true personalities.
I especially love the tender moments.

This family gave me all my favorites all in one shoot. Tender love, waves of giggles, and a little bit of ornery for good measure.

I often hear people say some member of their family would like pictures (usually mom) but they just hate the process of trying to coordinate everyone's outfits, locations, nap schedules, work demands etc. Couple that with the empty promises we tell ourselves of losing 10 lbs, looking 10 years younger and finding the perfect outfit, and family pictures can be hard to schedule.

Believe me, I completely understand! I am right there with you.

That is why when a beautiful family like this one goes to all the effort to make a photo session happen, I really appreciate it. I love documenting their love for each other, funny interactions they have, the special way they can make each other smile, their inside jokes, and how they know right where the ticklish spots are to get the biggest belly laughs. I am so grateful that they let me in on their special family moments so I could freeze time for that instant.

Thanks for trusting me with your family memories. I can't wait to do it again.

The first time I met this family was the night I took their pictures, but I knew already they were kind and generous people. Tiffany came my way after a charity benefit and silent auction for http://www.littlegiantsfoundation.org/ to help Emily.

I loved every minute of our session together. The kids were so sweet with each other, quick to smile, and playful. One of my favorite things is when kids have their own posing ideas. Sometimes those end up being my favorite pictures!

Anyway, enough chatter from me. Enjoy the sneak peek!

One of the special things about being a photographer is when I get to photograph people close to me. I am so blessed to get to share in Austin and Adrienne's wedding. They are so great together and I love seeing young love and getting that special feeling that it is just going to grow and grow for years to come.

Adrienne was a bride that was always thinking of those around her on her wedding day. Absolutely beautiful inside and out. There were many special moments throughout the day that she went the extra mile to thank those she loves and build memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.

Congratulations Austin and Adrienne!

One of my goals for the year is to keep the creative fire alive. Sometimes life can get routine so this year when the carnival came to town I knew it was time for a fun personal challenge - family pictures at the carnival!

This sweet and adorable family was amazing. They were willing to go with this non-traditional idea and they rocked it! These are the moments I adore my job.

so much has happened recently and I am so excited! I just got back from WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Professionals International). I feel inspired and energized to take more pictures of your adorable kiddos!

In light of that, one of my most popular pictures has been of my son as Clark Kent. I believe that every child is a super hero in their own way. I love seeing their little personalities come out and encouraging each child's strengths. In light of that, I am opening a limited number of slots to take pictures of your little Hero!

Sessions will fill up quickly, so contact me soon by email at notesforjulie@gmail.com or by phone at 402.719.0405 .

Blogging is one of my passions. I love having an outlet to share my joys, ideas, dreams, lessons, and thoughts with anyone patient enough to listen. It is a way to connect with other people that have similar passions, un-clutter my brain and transfer my ideas to paper, then hopefully to reality.

However, as often happens, life becomes busy, and "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" as my grandmother would say. In other words, what ever the next deadline is becomes the priority.

I wouldn't really call this a new years resolution, but rather a re-assessment of priorities, and making my goals become a reality. This year I hope to spend more time blogging, journaling, scrapbooking and writing my legacy one day at a time.
I hope to play more.
I hope to remember each day to ask myself if what I am working on is worth trading a day of my life for.
I hope to keep the creative fire alive to make absolutely beautiful works of art through photography; art that shares an emotion that doesn't need to be said, because when you look at the picture you just feel it.
I hope to inspire people to follow their dreams, even when they are hard.
I hope to give back more and support great causes.
I hope to have more fun! To laugh and dance like no one is watching. (You should know this is a big one. There is a reason you have never seen me dance!)
I hope to get in the picture more. I am not comfortable in front of the camera at all, but I preach a message of "Your children love you just how you are and want a beautiful picture of you." I want to listen to my own sermon and get tons of pictures of Tucker and I together without worrying about losing 10 lbs before getting in the picture.

In my goal of making this happen, I think I could use a pep talk (and I suspect you could use one too!) So, sit back, watch, be inspired, laugh, and then go make your dreams a reality.

About Me

about me

Hi! I’m Julie Boysen (the B behind [B] Inspired!) While I joke that my full time boss is my sweet baby and my energetic son, photography is the way I choose to fill the rest of my time.

Creating beautiful images is my escape, creative passion and the excuse to satisfy my naturally nerd-y/geek tendancies.

I am a Nebraska girl and love the wide open spaces of our tiny hometown, but I also love the conveniences of the city (Oh, Hello Starbucks!). I fall prey to the hypnotic effects of Target, (”I only need 1 thing... how did all of this end up in my cart????”) and I frequently spend the time that I should be doing my laundry on dreaming about my next vacation/stay-cation.

Anthony (the original [B]) is the love of my life and adventure partner. He has faithfully supported me and loved me through thick and thin for 15+ years now. We are big fans of marriage and I am a much better person because of him.

Thank you so much for trusting me to photograph your most precious treasures in life- your family! I love being a part of your celebrations, monumental moments, as well as documenting the sweetness of everyday life that when you’ll miss the most. Without you, living my dream would not be possible.
