Our culture is programed to value the highlight reel - the "shiny" things. Our lives are presented in short little clips with perfectly matched outfits, smiles, and beautiful lighting. We post our happy moments and wait for the likes to roll in. On the flip side, we struggle with lament, and never quite know how to respond to suffering. And yet, the most valuable relationships are ones where there is authenticity and vulnerability. Photographing these vulnerable moments move me more than any other photos I take.
